ABOUT DIONNE

Dionne was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica before moving to New York City. Having eight children and facing financial hardship, Dionne has encountered many trials and tribulations. She persevered, however, and worked different jobs to survive in her tough situation.

After losing her apartment, she lived in and out of shelters in the Bronx and Brooklyn and eventually became street homeless. Although she was in a tough situation, she always remained kind and compassionate to others.

After nearly twenty years of homelessness, the Bronxworks outreach team had a positive impact on Dionne’s life and were able to link her to a room in a transitional setting where she now lives. Dionne exuded a positive presence throughout her Through the Eyes with the Homeless experience. She continues to have a bright outlook on life and work towards a successful future.
